During one of the final chapel services of the semester, we recognize some of our athletes for their major accomplishments during the past season. The first awards given were for the 2014 volleyball season. Five ladies received the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Scholar Athlete award, given to a junior or senior athlete that has a grade point average (GPA) of a 3.4 or higher. This award shows that the player’s dedication to their college education is not hindered by their devotion to their sports team. The five volleyball ladies given this award are Elisabeth Auker, Jessica Ehlen, Lauren Hickman, Emily Moeller, and Beth Stewart. We also had a two ladies, Jessica Ehlen and Beth Stewart, named to the NCCAA Mid-East Region Honorable Mention team.

For the 2014 soccer season, three athletes received the NCCAA Scholar Athlete Award. These men are Joshua Banks, Craig Howard, and Adarsha Gurung. We also had several players that received NCCAA Mid-East Region recognition. Adarsha Gurung, Ben Harris, and Luis San Miguel were named to the Second Team All-Region, and Ryan Williamson was named to the First Team All-Region.

The final awards are for the 2014-2015 basketball season. Two men received the NCCAA Scholar Athlete Award. They are Justin Ludka and Chad Mainous. We also had several men named to NCCAA Mid-East Regional Team. Luke Dalton and Josh Farmer were named to the Honorable Mention Team, and Chad Mainous was named to the Second Team.

As we finish the semester, we are looking forward to the upcoming summer events and sports camps hosted at Crown College. On June 11-12, we will host the All-Star Basketball Classic. We are also hosting two sports camps this summer. The first is basketball camp June 22-26. Former Crown Basketball player and Crown College alumni Ed Loney will be the guest speaker for this week. We are also hosting volleyball camp from July 27-31, 2015. The speakers for this week of camp will be Tom Odom and Scott Pauley.
