Ladies' Volleyball 2009 Season Recap
The 2009 Lady Crusaders completed their season with a record of 11-10. This year, they competed against teams in the NCCAA Divisions I and II, and the USCAA. The Crusaders were ranked 18th in national NCCAA DII standings, and 3rd in region standings. They made the top twenty in the division in attacking percentage and digging, and ranked second in the division for ace average. The team received several region awards this season. Erica Harshbarger (junior) was nominated to the First Team All-Region, and Brittany Inskeep (freshman) received honorable mention. Also, Beth Inskeep (senior) and Bethany Moeller (junior) received the Scholar-Athlete Award. The Lady Crusaders also are thankful that Erica Harsbarger was named an NCCAA II All-American for the 2009 season. We congratulate Erica on this tremendous achievement!
Several ladies distinguished themselves through excellent personal statistics. The Crusaders’ serving percentage was led by Erica Harshbarger, serving at 92%, and Beth Inskeep at 89.8%. Rachel Davis (junior) carried the team’s aces, averaging .8 per set with 52 total aces for the season. She ranked second in the division for aces. Beth and Brittany Inskeep and Nicole Paddock (sophomore) each averaged .6 aces per set. Brittany Inskeep led in attacking with 2.20 kills per set and 154 kills for the season. Erica Harshbarger averaged 1.88 kills per set and Bethany Moeller averaged 1.07 kills per set. Nicole Paddock, the team’s setter, served the team well with 5.7 assists per set with a total of 404 assists. Meagan Tonge (sophomore), the team’s libero, led in receiving and digging. She received the ball with 93.8% accuracy and averaged 3.8 digs per set.

Awards: Beth received the Scholar-Athlete Award, which she also received in the 2008 season. She had the second highest serving percentage on the team and averaged .6 aces per set. Beth served as team captain of the Lady Crusaders.
Bethany Moeller

Class: Junior
Hometown: St. Cloud, MN
Awards: Bethany received the Scholar-Athlete Award. Bethany was a strong asset for her team this season, averaging 1.07 attacks per set. She was a strong leader both on and off the court.
Erica Harshbarger

Hometown: Rockford, IL
Awards: Erica was named to the NCCAA Mid-East First Team All Region. She led the team's serving percentage, serving at 92%. She also averaged 1.88 attacks per set. Erica played a pivotal role in the success of the Lady Crusaders this season. Erica was also named an NCCAA II All-American for the 2009 season. We congratulate Erica on this tremendous achievement!

Awards: Brittany was awarded NCCAA Mid-East All Region Honorable Mention. Brittany average .6 aces per set and led the team's attacks. She averaged 2.20 attacks per set. Brittany was also named the NCCAA DII Player of the Week for the week of October 5-11, 2009.

Crown @ Johnson Bible College 10/13/09
The Lady Crusaders traveled across town to play Johnson Bible College. The Lady Crusaders were defeated 2-3 (22-25, 25-19, 25-20, 22-25,12-15). Brittany Inskeep led the Lady Crusaders with 12 kills, 3 aces, and 2 blocks. Erica Harshbarger added 11 kills and 2 aces, and Bethany Moeller also had 8 kills. Meagan Tonge led the team defensively with 23 digs and 26 serve receptions.
Crown vs Free Will Baptiist Bible College 10/10/09
The Lady Crusaders came back from Friday’s loss to Kentucky to defeat the Flames of Free Will Baptist Bible College 3-0 (25-14, 25-14, 25-13). The Lady Crusaders were led by Erica Harshbarger with 8 kills and 2 blocks, They were also led by Brittany Inskeep with 10 kills and 3 aces and Nicole Paddock with 8 aces. Defensively, the Lady Crusaders were led by Meagan Tonge with 14 serve receptions and 8 digs.
Crown vs Kentucky Christian 10/09/09
The Lady Crusaders came up against the toughest competition in the Mid-East Region, falling to the Lady Knights of Kentucky Christian University 0-3 (10-25, 18-25,18-25). The Lady Crusaders were led by Erica Harshbarger and Brittany Inskeep, each with 4 kills and 1 block. Beth Inskeep also had a great night with 4 kills and 1 ace. Meagan Tonge led the team defensively with 25 serve reciptions and 11 digs.

Brittany Inskeep Named Player Of The Week
Brittany Inskeep was named player of the week by the NCCAA for the week of September 28-October 4, 2009. Brittany, freshman from The Crown College of the Bible (TN) had 32 kills in 9 sets for a 3.2 average. She also had 5 total blocks and 8 total service aces. He best game was against Appalachian Bible College on Saturday. She had a high of 17 kills, 4 blocks, and 6 aces.
Crown vs Appalachian Bible College 10/3/09
After a big win on Friday, the Lady Crusaders were ready to come back out and play on Saturday against Appalachian Bible College. The Lady Crusaders defeated Appalachian 3-1 (25-20, 25-20, 15-25, 25-20). The Lady Crusaders were led by the duo of Brittany Inskeep and Erica Harshbarger. Brittany had an awesome 17 kills, 4 blocks and 6 aces, while Erica added 10 kills and 2 blocks. Defensively, the Lady Crusaders were led by Meagan Tonge with 27 digs and 25 serve receptions. The Lady Crusaders (7-4) were glad to get two big wins this weekend.
Crown vs Atlanta Christian 10/2/09
The Lady Crusaders played at home on Friday night against visiting Atlanta Christian College. Crown defeated Atlanta Christian 3-0 (25-17, 25-5, 25-7). The team was led by Erica Harshbarger who had 7 kills and 2 blocks. Brittany Inskeep had 7 kills, Bethany Moeller added 5 kills, and Beth Inskeep and Rachel Davis each had 3 aces for the team. The Lady Crusaders' (6-4) next game is at home against Mid-East Region Rival, Appalachian Bible College.

On Tuesday afternoon, the Lady Crusaders traveled to Nashville, TN to play Free Will Baptist Bible College (2-9). The Lady Crusaders defeated FWBBC 3-0 (25-16, 25-22, 25-22). The team was led by Brittany Inskeep who had a total of 8 kills. Erica Harshbarger and Bethany Moeller each added 7 kills. Nicole Paddock had 5 aces. On the defensive side, the team was led by Meagan Tonge with 14 digs and 20 serve receptions. The Lady Crusaders' (5-4) next games are this weekend at home.
Crown @ Tennessee Temple 9/26/09
The Lady Crusaders traveled to Chattanooga, TN to play Tennessee Temple University on Saturday afternoon. The Crusaders defeated TTU 3-0 (25-21, 25-21, 25-21). They were led offensively by the duo of Erica Harshbarger and Brittany Inskeep. Erica had 9 Kills, 2 Blocks, and 2 Aces and Brittany had 8 Kills. Defensively, the team was led by Meagan Tonge with 15 digs and 19 serve receptions. The Lady Crusaders (4-4) were excited to come away with a win.

Crown vs Johnson Bible College 9/22/09
The Lady Crusaders squared off with Johnson Bible College (4-4) on Tuesday evening. The Lady Crusaders were defeated 1-3 (25-16, 21-25, 19-25, 19-25). Erica Harshbarger and Brittany Inskeep led the team, each with 9 kills and 2 blocks. Rachel Davis also added 4 aces for the team. Defensively, the team was led by Meagan Tonge who delivered 14 digs and 29 serve receptions. The team had a total of 51 digs.
Crown @ Appalachian Bible College 9/19/09
The Lady Crusaders traveled to Beckley, WV to square off with a region rival Appalachian Bible College (2-4). The Lady Crusaders defeated the Warriors 3-0 (25-17, 25-18, 25-23). The team was led by Brittany Inskeep with 13 kills and 1 block, Erica Harshbarger with 9 kills and 2 blocks, Rachel Davis with 6 aces, and finally Kourtney Lewis with 5 aces. The Lady Crusaders' next game is at home against Johnson Bible College.
Crown @ Kentucky Christian / Moody Bible Institute 9/18/09
The Lady Crusaders traveled to Grayson, KY for a tri-match. In the first match, the Ladies played the Knights of Kentucky Christian (8-2). The Lady Crusaders were defeated 0-3 (16-25, 16-25, 15-25) in the match. The Lady Crusaders were led offensively by Brittany Inskeep who recorded 4 kills. The team was led defensively by Meagan Tonge who recorded 14 digs. In the second match, the Ladies Crusaders faced a tough Moody Bible Institute Archers (10-0). The Lady Crusaders were defeated 0-3 (14-25, 15-25, 14-25) In the game, the Lady Crusaders were led by Brittany Inskeep, who had 5 kills, and Erica Harshbarger who added 4 kills and 1 block. The Lady Crusaders hated to lose both matches but they played well against both teams.

Crown @ Ohio Christian
After a tough loss on Friday, the Lady Crusaders were ready to come out and play against Ohio Christian on Saturday. In match one, both teams fought hard as the score was close. The Lady Crusaders were able to pull off the win, with the final score 27-25. In match two, the Lady Crusaders continued to dominate, and won with the score of 25-10. In match three the Lady Crusaders struggled a bit, and the Trailblazers took the win with the final score of 21-25. The Lady Crusaders bounced back, finishing off the game by winning the fourth match with a score of 25-18. This gives the Lady Crusaders two wins now, and they are 1-0 in the conference. The team's momentum was led by Rachel Davis who had total of 11 aces, 9 of which were consecutive. The Lady Crusaders were also led by Brittany Inskeep with 10 kills and 3 Aces, Erica Harshbarger with 8 kills and 2 blocks; and finally Meagan Tonge with 15 digs.
Crown @ Southern State
The Lady Crusaders traveled up to Ohio this weekend. In their first game, the Ladies faced a tough Southern State Community College team. In match one, the Lady Crusaders came from behind to make the game close but at the end, they lost with a score of 19-25. The second match was tight as well to the last few points. Once again the Lady Crusaders could not hold on, and lost with the final score of 23-25. In match three the Lady Crusaders fought hard, but could not come back and lost match three, with the final score of 13-25. Though the Lady Crusaders lost the game, several players that stood out. Bethany Moeller had 6 kills and 5 digs; Erica Harshbarger had 5 kills and 3 blocks; Brittany Inskeep had 5 kills, 2 aces, and 1 block; and Meagan Tonge had 11 digs. Mrs. Turner was glad they Ladies played competitively, and is looking forward to their next game.

Crown @ Atlanta Christian 9/4/09
The Lady Crusaders traveled to Atlanta to play the season opener against Atlanta Christian College. The Ladies won three straight matches to win the game. The scores of the matches were 25-10, 25-8, and 25-16. The team was led by Erica Harshbarger, who had five kills, two blocks, and two aces. Brittany Inskeep had seven aces. Coach Turner was glad the team was able to get off to a good start, and was pleased with how well the girls played, especially the new freshmen who are on the team.
