Awards: Robert was named to the NCCAA Mid-East Region First Team All-Region. Robert was selected to the all-region team for his hard work as a defender. He was the heart of our team defense this year.

Andres Rodriguez

Class: Sophomore
Hometown: Costa Rica
Awards: Andres was named to the NCCAA Mid-East Region First Team All-Region. He was selected by the coaches in the region for his hustle and control of the midfield. Andres controlled the middle of the field for this year and was a great asset to the team.

Aaron Hatcher

Class: Sophomore
Hometown: Springfield, TN
Awards: Aaron was named to the NCCAA Mid-East Region Second Team All-Region. The coaches in the region selected him for his outstanding control of the midfield this season. Aaron was willing to play any position and helped us out greatly.

Daniel Grant

Class: Junior
Hometown: Londonderry, NH
Awards: Daniel was named to the NCCAA Mid-East Region Second Team All-Region. Daniel was chosen for his great defense and hard work. This was Daniel's first year to play for the Royal Crusaders and was a big help to our defense this season.

Awards: Nick was named to the NCCAA Mid-East Region Second Team All-Region. He was selected for his offensive abilities. This was Nick's first year to play for the Royal Crusaders and he led the team in scoring and assists this year.

Class: Senior
Hometown: Corryton, TN
Awards: Houston was named to the NCCAA Mid-East Region Second Team All-Region. He was our team’s second leading scorer. He served as a co-captain this year with Andrew Weber.
NCCAA D2 Soccer Stats Week 3
Crown College vs Kentucky Christian - Sept. 23, 2011
The Crusaders traveled to Kentucky Christian University to play against the Knights in the cold, rainy weather. The Crusaders fought hard the entire first half of the game, making some good runs but they were unable to come up with a goal. Late in the first half, the Knight’s Jean Virgile shot from the top of the 18 after a breakdown in the defense and scored a goal for Kentucky. Crown went into half time 0 - 1. The second half was fought hard by both opponents. Each team had some good runs but with fifteen minutes left in the game #3, Spenser Lindey, scored a goal ending the game for the Crusaders, with the final score 0 -2. The Crusaders continue to push on in their season and hope to get a win on Saturday.
Crown College vs Warren Wilson College – Sept. 20, 2011
On Tuesday, September 20, 2011, Crown faced Warren Wilson College from Asheville, NC. In the first half of the game, both teams fought hard. The Crusaders passed the ball extremely well and became successful in scoring a goal with five minutes left in the first half. Nick Sexton scored on a set piece about thirty yards out. The second goal came about a minute after the first goal. Houston Sherrod scored it off of a corner kick. The Crown College went into the second half 2 – 0. In the second half, Warren Wilson’s Lincoln Bressor shot about 18 yards out with five minutes in the second half, scoring a goal. The remainder of the game, the Royal Crusaders held their ground and the final score on the scoreboard was 2 – 1. The Crusaders had nineteen shots on goal, while Warren Wilson had sixteen shots on goal. Andrew Weber, the goalkeeper for the Crusaders, had l4 saves in the game. The Crusaders will be traveling this weekend to Kentucky and West Virginia to play two games on the road.
NCCAA D2 Soccer Stats Week 2
Crown College vs Ohio Mid-Western University – Sept. 17, 2011
After a tough loss to Ohio Christian the Crusaders had to get up early the next morning and face Ohio Mid-Western University. In the first half, Crown fell behind early. The Crusaders tried to come back but were down a few goals at the half. In the second half, Crown made some adjustments offensively as well as defensively. In the end Crusaders lost a tough one. Crown will next play at home against Warren Wilson College on September 20, 2011.
Crown College vs Ohio Christian University – Sept. 16, 2011
The Crusaders headed north to play the Trailblazers of Ohio Christian University on Friday, September 16, 2011. As the first half started, the Trailblazers controlled the possession. Midway through the half, the Crusaders stepped up, passing and possessing the ball very well. Both teams had a few good shots on goal. At half time the game was tied 0-0. The second half began with both teams playing physical. About ten minutes into the half, the Trailblazers were awarded a penalty kick on a tough call. Jimmy Galvan took the penalty kick, taking full advantage of the shot and awarding the Trailblazers with a 1-0 lead. With about fifteen minutes remaining, Brandon Savage ripped a ball from close to twenty-five yards and took a shot that barely missed the top corner of the goal. The Crusaders fought hard for a goal, yet fell to the Trailblazers 1-0 to end the game. The Crusaders traveled to Cincinnati, OH, to play Ohio Mid-Western University at 9:00 a.m. the following morning.
Crown College vs Johnson University – Sept. 13, 2011
After a big win against Tennessee Temple University, the Royal Crusaders had to face rivals Johnson University on Tuesday September 13. In the first half, Johnson was able to take first goal. With twenty minutes into the half, Crown answered back when Adarsha Gurung scored off a corner kick taken from Nick Sexton. The score at half time was tied at 1-1. In the second half, Crown came out in the first eleven minutes and was able to take the lead. Nathan Castleberry scored after receiving a pass from Caleb Cruse. The defense stepped it up the rest of the half. Late in the game Johnson answered back scoring off a set piece to once again tie the game up. Minutes later Johnson got another goal, again off a set piece. The Crusaders pushed hard to again tie the game up but in the end Crown lost a tough one with the final score 2-3. The Crusaders will next face Ohio Christian University on Friday, September 16.
NCCAA D2 Soccer Stats Week 1
Crown College vs Tennessee Temple University – Sept. 10, 2011
After the first few losses for the Crusaders, the team came out hungry for a victory against Tennessee Temple University on Saturday night. In the first ten minutes of the half, Nick Sexton scored for the Crusaders after receiving a nice pass from Adarsha Gurung. With the 1-0 lead, Crown stepped up the defense as well as the offensive pressure. The Crusaders started passing good and getting some good looks at the goal. Late in the half, Brandon Savage scored his first career goal after a corner kick taken from Nick Sexton. At the end of the half, Crown was leading with the score of 2-0. In the second half, the Crusaders stepped up the defense even more to shut down TTU for most of the game. In the last seven minutes in the half, Tennessee Temple was able to score but Crown held on and got the win with final score of 2-1. Coach Sexton was very pleased with the win, and said that the team played their best game to date all season. The team is looking forward to what is store for the rest of their season.
Crown College vs Bryan College JV – Sept. 8, 2011
Thursday evening the Crusaders traveled down to Dayton, TN to face Bryan College’s JV team. In the first half, the Crusaders played great against a tough Bryan College team. The defense for Crown stepped it up tremendously and shut down Bryan in the first half. The score at half time was 0-0. In the second half Bryan College was able to put one in early to take a 0-1 lead. The Crusaders continued to fight hard but could not get anything to go in. Late in the game, Bryan College put another goal into the net to take a 0-2 lead. Crown lost a tough game with the final score of 0-2. The Crusaders face Tennessee Temple University on Saturday, September 10, 2011.
Crown College vs Point University – Sept. 3, 2011
On Saturday, September 3rd, Crown continued to travel and face another NCCAA II opponent: Point University. In the first half the Crusaders fell behind early, going down 0-2 at the half. In the second half, the team made some adjustments, but lost another tough one with the final score of 0-5. The Crusaders strive to improve as they move on from this game and start to prepare for their next game.
Crown College vs Clearwater Christian – Sept. 2, 2011
On Friday, September 2nd, Crown played Clearwater Christian College in Clearwater, FL. In the first half the guys came out fired up, anxious about their season opener. The Cougars of Clearwater took an early lead by scoring two goals during the half. The score at half time was 0-2 with Clearwater Christian College leading. In the second half, freshman Nick Sexton scored his first career goal off a set piece from 30 yards away. Crown continued to fight hard to gain the lead. Near the end of the game, Clearwater was able to score 2 more goals to win the game 1-4. With the tough loss, the Crusaders hope to bounce back and learn from their mistakes.
