#3 Ed Loney

February 25, 2012

The Royal Crusaders entered the NCCAA Mid-East Region Tournament in Louisville, KY as the #3 seed. On Thursday evening, the Crusaders used a strong second half effort to defeat Johnson University in the first-round game. Set to face Kentucky Christian University in the semi-final game on Friday, the Crusaders felt confident they could win the third game against KCU this season after splitting the regular season contests. However, a hot shooting KCU team ended the Crusaders’ hope for playing for region championship.

#32 Houston Sherrod

Though falling short of the region championship was disappointing, the Royal Crusaders enjoyed some big wins during a successful campaign. Coach Hickman says he is excited about the direction of the program, and is looking forward to the core of the team returning as the Crusaders graduate only two players -- Houston Sherrod and Ethan Cook -- from this year’s team.

Congratulations to junior guard Nate Humphrey who was named to the All Mid-East Region First Team as well as the Region All-Tournament team. Also senior guard Houston Sherrod became the tenth player in Royal Crusader basketball history to score 1,000 career points and was also recognized as an All Mid-East Region Honorable Mention selection.
