Ladies' Volleyball 2010 Match Summaries

Crown @ Free Will Baptist Bible College – 9/28/2010

The Lady Crusaders traveled to Nashville, TN to face Free Will Baptist Bible College. In the first set the Lady Crusaders took a few minutes to get into the game but won the set with score of 33-31. After the first set, the Lady Crusaders stepped it up and dominated the game. The Lady Crusaders won the second set easily with the score of 25-10. In the third set the Lady Crusaders won the set and the match with the score of 25-22. The Lady Crusaders are now 8-5 overall and will travel to Ohio this coming weekend to face Southern State on Friday and Ohio Christian on Saturday Morning.

Crown @ Kentucky Christian / Appalachian – 9/24-25/2010

This past weekend, the Lady Crusaders traveled to face Kentucky Christian and Appalachian Bible College. On Friday night the Lady Crusaders faced the #3 team in nation, Kentucky Christian University. The Crusaders lost three straight sets with the score of 16-25, 19-25 and 16-25. The Lady Crusaders played tough, but could not match up to a tough Kentucky team. On Saturday, the Lady Crusaders had to bounce back after the tough loss to play Appalachian Bible College. In the first set the Lady Crusaders won with the score of 25-17. In the second set the Lady Crusaders continued to dominate and won set two with the score of 25-15. The Lady Crusaders won the third set and the match with the score of 25-12. The Lady Crusaders are now 6-5 overall and 2-2 in the region.

Crown @ Hiwassee College – 9/22/2010

On Tuesday evening, the Lady Crusaders traveled to Hiwassee College. In the first set the Lady Crusaders started off great with the winning the first set with the score of 25-14. In the second set, the Lady Crusaders continued to dominate and won with the set with 25-9. In the third and final set the Lady Crusaders finished off the match with the score of 25-8. Leading the Lady Crusaders was the trio of Erica Harshbarger, Brittany Inskeep, and Kourtney Lewis. Erica had 8 kills and 3 aces, while Brittany had 7 kills and 4 aces, and Kourtney had 5 kills and 6 aces. The Lady Crusaders are now 6-4 and they will play two big region matches this weekend.

Crown @ Toccoa Falls / Agnes Scott - 9/18/2010

After the big win on Friday night the Lady Crusaders had to prepare for a Tri-Match with Toccoa Falls and Agnes Scott on Saturday. In the first game, the Lady Crusaders faced a tough Toccoa Falls team. The Lady Crusader won the first set with the score of 25-20. In the next set the Lady Crusaders fought hard but could not hang on and lost with the score of 20-25. In the third set, the Lady Crusaders gave it all they had but lost the set with the score of 15-25. In set four, the Lady Crusaders bounced back and fought hard. The set went back and forth, but the team could not hold on and lost with the set and match with the score of 23-25. Brittany Inskeep led the Crusaders with 15 kills, 6 blocks and 3 aces. Erica Harshbarger also had 12 kills and 3 blocks. After the tough loss, the Lady Crusaders had to get up and play Agnes Scott College. In the first set the Lady Crusaders won the set with the score of 25-23. In the second set the Lady Crusaders continued to control the court and won the set with the score of 25-20. In the third set the Lady Crusaders struggled and lost the set with the score of 20-25. The Lady Crusaders bounced back in the fourth set and won with the set and the match with the score of 25-17. Kaitlyn Foreland led the Lady Crusaders with 7 kills and 1 block. Also leading the Lady Crusaders was Bethany Moeller with 6 kills, 1 block, 12 digs and 2 aces. The Lady Crusaders are now 5-4 overall and will play Hiwassee College on September 22, 2010.

Crown @ Atlanta Christian – 9/17/2010

The Lady Crusaders traveled down to Atlanta, GA to face Atlanta Christian College. The Lady Crusaders dominated the game winning three straight sets to win the game. The scores of the set were 25-8, 25-10, 25-14. The Lady Crusaders were led by the duo of Brittany Inskeep and Erica Harbarger. Brittany had 8 kills and 9 aces while Erica added 8 kills and 2 aces. The Lady Crusaders are now 3-3 and will face Toccoa Falls and Agnes Scott on Saturday.

Crown @ Johnson Bible College – 9/14/2010

The Lady Crusaders traveled Tuesday evening across town to face conference rivals Johnson Bible College. In the first set, the Lady Crusaders struggle and lost with the score of 14-25. In set two the Lady Crusaders came back and fought hard to stay in the game. The Lady Crusaders lost a tough set with the score of 23-25. In the third set, the Lady Crusaders bounce back and won the set with the score of 25-20. In set four, the Lady Crusaders fought hard again to get the victory but in the end the Lady Crusaders lost the set and the game with the score of 16-25. The Lady Crusaders were lead by the dynamitic duo of Kaitlyn Forehand and Brittany Inskeep. Kaitlyn had a great game with 13 kills, 4 aces, 4 blocks, and 12 digs. Brittany added for the Lady Crusaders 12 kills and 3 blocks. Coach Turner thoughts about the game were, “we were not ready to play when we arrive onto the court. When we travel we have to have to concentration to stay on top and need to improve on this.” The Lady Crusaders are now 3-3 overall and 1-1 in the conference and will travel this weekend to Georgia to play Atlanta Christian and Toccoa Falls.

Crown vs Ohio Christian University – 9/11/2010

After the big win on Friday night, the Lady Crusaders were charged up to play Ohio Christian University in their first conference match. In the first set, the Lady Crusaders crushed the Trailblazers with the score of 25-10. In the second set the Lady Crusaders continued to dominate the game and won set two with the score of 25-17. In the third set, the Lady Crusaders fell behind 1-8, but quickly bounced back and took the set to win the game with the score of 27-25. Senior Erica Harshbarger and Freshman Kaitlyn Forehand led the Lady Crusaders. Erica had 7 kills, 8 blocks, and 1 ace while Kaitlyn had 7 kills also, 14 digs, and 2 aces. The Lady Crusaders are now 3-2 overall and 1-0 in conference play. The Lady Crusaders will next travel across town to face conference rival Johnson Bible College.

Crown vs Tennessee Temple University – 9/10/2010

The Lady Crusaders played their first home game on Friday night against Tennessee Temple University. In the first set the Lady Crusaders got off to a great start defeating TTU with the score of 25-13. In the second set the Lady Crusaders struggled and lost with the score of 20-25. In third set the Lady Crusaders bounced back from their loss and dominated the set winning it with the score of 25-16. In the fourth set the Lady Crusaders continued their come back, feeding off the energy of the fans and won set fourth and the game with the score of 25-11. The Lady Crusaders were led by the duo of Brittany Inskeep and Erica Harshbarger. Brittany had 13 kills, 2 aces and 4 blocks while Erica added 8 kills, 3 aces and 1 block. The Lady Crusaders are now 2-2 and will play their first conference game on Saturday, September 11.

Crown @ Tennessee Temple University – 9/7/2010

The Lady Crusaders traveled to Chattanooga, TN to face Tennessee Temple University. In the first set, both teams fought a hard battle back and forth. The Lady Crusaders were able to pull out and win set one with the score of 26-24. In set two, the Lady Crusaders continued to control the game and won with the score of 25-20. The Lady Crusaders started dominating the game in the third set and won easily with the final score of 25-10. Brittany Inskeep led the team with 10 kills, 3 aces, and 1 block. Also helping the Lady Crusaders win was Kaitlyn Forehand with 10 kills and 1 ace and Nicole Paddock with 4 aces. The Lady Crusades are now 1-2. The next game for the Lady Crusaders is Friday, September 10 at home against Ohio Christian.

Crown @ Piedmont Baptist/ Surry Community – 9/3/2010

On Friday September 3, the Lady Crusaders traveled to Winston-Salem, NC for a tri-match with Surry Community College and Piedmont Baptist College. In the first game, the Lady Crusaders played a tough Surry Community College team. The Lady Crusaders fought hard in the first set but lost the set with the score of 18-25. In set two, both teams went back and forth in a tight match. The Crusaders kept fighting hard and lost a tough set with the score of 26-28. The Crusaders stepped it up in the third set. Despite the score being close, the Ladies lost with the score of 24-26. This gave the Lady Crusaders their first loss of the season. After they played Surry Community College the Lady Crusaders had to bounce back and play Piedmont Baptist College. In the first set the Lady Crusader took an early lead and ended up winning the set with the final score of 25-21. In set two, the score was neck and neck between both teams. The Lady Crusaders lost the set with the score of 25-27. In sets three and four Lady Crusaders fought hard but could not hang on and lost both sets with the scores of 23-25. Kaitlyn Forehand led the Lady Crusaders with 19 kills. Also leading the Lady Crusaders were Erica Harshbarger and Brittany Inskeep with each 14 kills. The Lady Crusaders lost both games, but learned what they need to work on. The next game for the Lady Crusaders is Tuesday, September 7, against Tennessee Temple University.
