Warren Wilson vs Crown 1/16/10
After the big win Friday night, the Crusaders faced Warren Wilson on Saturday. In the first half, the Crusaders couldn't gain control of the game, and fell short at halftime with the score of 31-39. In the second half, the Crusaders fought hard and managed to score another 31 points. It was not, however, enough to win the game. The Crusaders lost a tough game with the final score of 62-74. The Crusaders had to two players on their team to score double figures. The team also shot 80% from the free-throw line. The Crusaders hated to lose this game, but hope to learn from their mistakes as they prepare for their next game which is against Johnson Bible College on Tuesday.
Georgia Northwestern Technical College vs Crown 1/15/10
The Royal Crusaders played at home on Friday night against Georgia Northwestern Technical College. In the first half the Crusaders came out fired up to play in front of a packed out crowd. Houston Sherrod scored 3 three-pointers, and a dunk by Ed Loney helped the Crusaders take an early lead. The score at halftime was 41-37. The Crusaders played even better in the second half, with four players reach double digits in scoring. The Crusaders won this big game Friday night with the final score of 80-62. Leading the Crusaders was Houston Sherrod who had 19 points. The Crusaders will next play Warren Wilson on Saturday.
Crown @ Berea College 1/8/2010
The Royal Crusaders traveled to Berea, KY to face Berea College (NAIA II team) on Friday night. The Crusaders fell behind early in the first half, only scoring 22 points. The score at half time was 22-46. In the second half the Crusaders made some adjustments. but could not match up to the tough Berea team. The Crusaders ended up losing a tough game with the final score of 41-96. The Crusaders were led in scoring by Houston Sherrod who scored 15 points by hitting 5 three-pointers. The Crusaders are now 3-6 as they start the second half of their season. The Crusaders will play at home on Friday, January 15 against Northwest Technical College from Georgia.
Crown @ Georgia Northwestern Technical College 12/1/09
The Crusaders traveled to Rock Springs, GA on Tuesday evening to face Georgia Northwestern Technical College. In the first half the Royal Crusaders scored 30 points. The score at half time was 30-36. Only down by six at half time, the Crusaders came out in the second half fired up to play. The Crusaders managed to score another 34 points before the end of the game. It was a fight to finish, but it was not enough for the Crusaders. The Crusaders lost with the final score of 64-76. Despite the loss, the Crusaders were able to grab 39 rebounds and had a total of 18 assists. The team was led in scoring by Darren Mauk who had 18 points. The Crusaders also had three other players to score double digits. This was the Crusaders' last game for the fall semester.
Crown @ Asbury College 11/23/09
The Crusaders traveled up to Asbury, KY to face Asbury College. In the first half the Crusaders struggled to score, only scoring 18 points. At half time the Crusaders made some adjustments for the second half, but could not match up to a tough Asbury team. The Crusaders ended up losing with the final score of 40-88. The Crusaders now have a record of 3-4.
Toccoa Falls vs Crown 11/21/09
After the big win on Friday night, the Crusaders geared up to play a tough Toccoa Falls Team. In the first half, the Crusaders fell behind. The score at half time was 14-35. In the second half the Crusaders came out fired up to start scoring. The Crusaders scored 37 points in the second half, but it was not enough. They ended up losing the game with the final score of 57-72. The team was led in scoring by Collin Hickman, Ed Loney, and Houston Sherrod with each 12 points. The Crusaders will face Asbury College on Monday night.
Appalachian Bible College vs Crown 11/20/09
The Crusaders played at home against Appalachian Bible College on Friday night. The team got off to a great start in the first half, shooting 54.2% from the field and scoring 58 points. The score at half time was 58-32. In the second half, the Crusaders continued to control the game. The Crusaders ended up scoring another 50 points before the end of the game. This is the second time this season that Crusaders scored over 100 points in a game. The final score of the game was 108-64. Collin Hickman led the Crusaders, shooting 7 for 8 from the field, scoring 16 points. Ethan Cook, Ed Loney, Houston Sherrod, Pete Davidson, and Daniel Grant each scored double digits for the Crusaders. The Crusaders now have a record of 3-2 and will play Toccoa Falls College on Saturday.
Crown @ Northwood University / Trinity Baptist College 11/12 – 11/14
The Royal Crusaders traveled to Floridia this weekend for two games. The first game was on Thursday in West Palm Beach, Florida, against Northwood University (NAIA II). The Crusaders struggled to score against a tough Northwood team. The Crusaders scored 21 points in the first half, and only scored 13 points in the second half. The Crusaders lost with the final score of 34-109. The Crusaders then traveled up to Jacksonville, Florida to play Trinity Baptist College. In the first half, both teams fought back and forth. Crown scored 31 points by halftime, making the score 31-38. In the second half the Crusaders tried to gain the lead but could never manage to do so. The Crusaders lost a tough game with the final score of 60-69. Collin Hickman led the team with 22 points going 3 for 5 from the three-point line and 7 for 10 from the free-throw line. The Crusaders are now 2-2 and play at home next week against Appalachian Bible College and Toccoa Falls.
Piedmont vs Crown 11/7/09
After the big win on Friday night, the Crusader came out Saturday to face Piedmont Baptist College. In the first half the Royal Crusaders shot 42.4% from the field, scoring 44 points. The score at half time was 44-27. In the second half the Royal Crusaders continued to control the game and won with the final score of 86-61. Houston Sherrod led the team in scoring for the Crusaders. The Royal Crusaders will face Toccoa Falls on Tuesday night at home.
Mid-Atlantic vs Crown 11/6/09
The Royal Crusaders open their season against Mid-Atlantic Christian University on Friday Night. The Royal Crusaders took an early lead going up 56-15 at half time. In the second half, the Royal Crusaders continued to control the game and shut down Mid-Atlantic with a team total of 29 steals. The Crusaders won the game with the final score of 102-35. The team was led in scoring by Ed Loney. Everyone on the team helped contribute to the win. Coach Fowler was very pleased with how well the young men played.
